With our deepest regret we have to inform you that Amanda passed away on Friday, May 27 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
On Saturday, March 12 Kyle and Amanda Franklin crashed in a wooded area on Brownsville, South Padre Island International Airport while performing their "Pirated Skies" Waco wing walking act at Air Fiesta 2011.
In the crash and post crash fire Amanda suffered a significant inhalation injury from inhaling smoke and fire, 3rd degree burns on 64% of her body, including her face, and numerous fractures to her face, neck and back.
Kyle sustained burns to his arms and hands inflicted while he tried to pull his wife Amanda from the burning plane.
They were both flown to San Antonio for treatment at Brooke Army Medical Center.
Kyle was discharged from hospital March 28, Amanda remained in the Burn Intensive Care Unit in critical condition and underwent multiple surgeries. On May 27, after a 76 day long struggle, her body could not fight back the infections any longer. Amanda passed away at 10.10PM.
