The Rio Grande Valley Wing of the CAF participated again this year in Lackland Air Force Base sponsored Air Fest. San Antonio's Randolph Air Force Base and Lackland Air Force Base produce their shows alternate years and the RGV is fortunate to have a working relationship with both facilities. 
Four of the Rio Grande Valley Wing's owner owned aircraft flew to Lackland Thursday for the November 1st and 2nd show. CAF Col Tom Santos showed up with his North American L-17 Navion, Col David Hughston took his Boeing PT-13 Stearman, Col Mitch Hughston with his North American AT-6 Harvard, and Col Dennis Bowman flew in with his Vultee BT-15 Valiant. The military forces in San Antonio are always happy to see our birds at their shows and modern military pilots flock to our ramp for a close view of the vintage aircraft. Sandy Richards crewed with Mitch Hughston, Bobby Ferris crewed with Dennis Bowman, and Fernando Elizalde crewed with David Hughston. Chirs Hughston flew a Globe Swift to Stinson Airport in San Antonio where he was picked up by ground transportation.
